Food delivery and takeaways

Student marketing for food delivery and takeaways.

Students order in a lot, and they eat out between lectures. Here is how food delivery apps, takeaways and restaurants near campus reach them where they are every day.

The problem

Students order in a lot. Getting chosen is the hard part.

Students order in a lot, and in exam season they are studying late and ordering more. They also eat out between lectures, revision and nights out. The question for a delivery app or a takeaway is not whether students order, but whose app is open on their phone and whose shop they walk past.

Most food brands already run social ads to this audience. Those ads compete with every other brand in the feed. A poster on the corridor to the library, with a student code or a QR to your app, is seen on the way to the moment of decision.

Ireland had 278,880 students in 2024/25, and 48,485 of them were new to college that year (HEA Key Facts and Figures 2024/25). New students choose their apps in their first weeks.

How it fits

Where campus postering and sampling fit.

  1. 01

    Posters with a code

A3 posters on campus and in student neighbourhoods, each with a student code or QR, so you can count what came from the campaign.

  2. 02

    Near your outlets

For takeaways and restaurants, we place on the routes between campus, student housing and your door.

  3. 03

    Sampling

Vouchers or tasters handed out where the campus allows it, and at Freshers' fairs booked through the students' union.

  4. 04

    Late study and exam season

Posters timed to the weeks when students are on campus late and ordering in.

  5. 05

    Opt in WhatsApp

A QR to an opt in list for weekly student deals, with an easy way out in every message.

  6. 06

    Loyalty

Stamp cards and student prices that turn one order into a habit.

Timing

When it works best.

  • September and Freshers': new students choose their apps and their local takeaway.
  • November to December: end of term deadlines, exams and Christmas nights out.
  • January: back to campus, a second first impression.
  • April to May: exam season and late study.

June to August is quiet on campus.

  3. 03

    Placement

Campus buildings, students' union areas, library approaches, canteen corridors and the student neighbourhoods nearby, within each campus's rules.

Category exclusivity

One advertiser per category per city.

One advertiser per category per city for each campaign window. If you book, no competitor in your category runs with us in that city at the same time.

Our own placements include Trinity College Dublin and TU Dublin Grangegorman. Other campuses are planned campus by campus, within the rules of each campus. See Irish colleges.

Talk it through. Call or WhatsApp Philip on 087 054 9971, email hello@studentlink.ie, or use the brief form below. Tell us the product, the cities and the dates, and we will come back with a plan and a quote.

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Can we use a student discount code on the posters?

Yes. We recommend it. A unique code or QR per campaign lets you see orders that came from the posters, and we include it in the artwork.

Do you place posters near our restaurants?

Yes, where there are approved boards and walls in the student neighbourhoods between campus and your outlet, as well as on campus within each campus's rules.

Can you hand out vouchers or food on campus?

Where the college or students' union allows it. Many route sampling requests through the students' union, and we confirm the rules for each campus before you book.

Is the category exclusive?

Yes. One advertiser per category per city for each campaign window, so no competing delivery app or takeaway runs with us in that city at the same time.

How do we start?
