Student marketing in IrelandStudent marketing in Ireland, explained for brands.
What student marketing is, who the audience is, which channels work and how to choose a student marketing agency in Ireland. Written by StudentLink, a Dublin student marketing agency.
278,880 students, in a handful of places.
Ireland had 278,880 students in higher education in 2024/25, and 48,485 of them started college that year (HEA Key Facts and Figures 2024/25). Most are Gen Z: 177,710 were aged 23 or under. They are choosing a bank, a phone network, a takeaway app and the brands they will carry into working life.
They are also concentrated. More than 116,000 study at Dublin's universities and colleges alone, and Cork, Galway and Limerick hold most of the remaining university students. That makes students one of the few audiences in Ireland you can reach in person, every week, in a small number of places.

Stamp cards, vouchers and student prices that turn one visit into a habit.
- 06
Social media

How to choose a student marketing agency.
Ask any student marketing agency in Ireland these questions before you book:
- Which campuses and buildings? Ask for the exact campuses and the number of placements in each.
- Who does the work? Design, print, placement and monitoring under one team means nothing gets lost.
- How is it checked? Placements get covered and removed. Ask how often they are checked and replaced.
- Is there category exclusivity? StudentLink takes one advertiser per category per city for each campaign window.
- What proof do we get? Ask for a campaign report, and when payment is due. Our balance is due on the report.
- Does it follow the rules? Every campus has its own policy, and WhatsApp or text marketing needs opt in consent.
A Dublin agency, on campus since 2004.
StudentLink is run by Philip Marley, whose on campus marketing work in Ireland goes back to 2004: campus tours that visited ten colleges at a time, stage shows, Rag week sampling tours and student print. Read our story.
Today we run Campus Environment Media, managed poster campaigns across campus buildings and the student neighbourhoods around them, together with promotions, WhatsApp, loyalty and social. Our own placements include Trinity College Dublin and TU Dublin Grangegorman (photographed April 2026).

What is student marketing?
Student marketing is advertising and promotion aimed at college and university students: campus posters, Freshers' fair stands, sampling, student nights, student offers, opt in WhatsApp lists and social content. It works best on campus and in the places students spend their week.
Is student marketing the same as youth marketing?
They overlap. Youth marketing covers young people in general. Student marketing is narrower: it reaches people in college, where they are easiest to find, on campus, in student housing and in the bars and shops nearby. In 2024/25, 177,710 of Ireland's 278,880 higher education students were aged 23 or under (HEA).
How much does student marketing cost in Ireland?
It depends on the campuses, the channels, the weeks and the time of year, so StudentLink quotes each campaign per brief. Our Campus Environment Media works out at €2.63 to €4.90 per thousand modelled exposures on our 2026/27 rate card; the cost guide shows how that is calculated.
Which cities and colleges do you cover?
We are based in Dublin and plan campaigns nationally, campus by campus, in cities including Cork, Galway and Limerick. See Irish colleges at a glance.
When should a brand start planning?
For September and Freshers', start in spring or early summer, because space and students' union stands are limited. Other strong windows are November to December, January and April to May.
